The Maintenance Tradesworker is responsible for maintaining safe, clean, and accessible NB Power sites by performing ongoing brush, tree, roadway, and grounds maintenance across the plant, sampling locations, and other NB Power properties. The role also operates and monitors the treatment plant to ensure proper neutralization of acidic water in accordance with environmental regulations, completing regular checks and preparing required reports for the NB Department of Environment.
Key functions include:
- Perform ongoing maintenance of brush, trees, and roadways on site and surrounding water-sampling and testing-well locations. Maintain the lawns and grounds at the local NB Power office and other NB Power-owned properties to ensure safe, clean, and accessible environments. Conduct required security checks to uphold site integrity and safety standards.
- Operate and maintain the treatment plant to neutralize acidic water in compliance with NB-DOE regulations. Complete periodic checks through the designated mobile app during and outside regular working hours to verify performance within designed operational parameters. Manage and generate required reports for NB-DOE, ensuring accurate documentation and timely submission of information related to facility operations.
- Ensure the safety of coworkers and contractors by enforcing all safety protocols and maintaining a safety-first work environment. Provide after-hours, evening, and weekend support as required, including overtime work, to maintain continuous safe operation of the facility.
Our ideal teammate will have:
One of the following:
- Millwright CQ
- Industrial Mechanic CQ
- Industrial Electrician CQ
AND:
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
- In addition to one of the certifications mentioned above, a New Brunswick Qualified F4 Welding Licence would be considered an asset
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
