NEEDS ASSESSOR (Classification: Human Resource Development Officer 2)

The Department of Social Development is seeking an individual to join the Social Assistance Program Delivery Branch for an existing position in the Moncton office and to establish an inventory of qualified candidates to fill future term as well as part-time and full-time permanent vacancies as Needs Assessors or Case Managers within the Southeast Zone (Moncton, Richibucto, Shediac, Sackville).
As a member of the Needs Assessment team, major duties can include:
- Assessing the needs of applicants for Social Development programs
- Determining the eligible level of government assistance and financial support
- Referring applicants and clients to appropriate services
- Assessing and verifying applicant eligibility for financial assistance
- Documenting and updating client files
- Other related duties as assigned
For future opportunities, as a member of the Career Development Opportunities Case Management team, the successful candidates will be responsible for performing professional, administrative, and counselling duties in support of Social Development programs. Key responsibilities may include:
- Evaluating individual needs
- Developing and implementing action plans in collaboration with participants
- Authorizing and issuing financial assistance
- Connecting individuals with appropriate community resources
- Determining eligibility for financial support
- Maintaining accurate client records
- Other related duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from University at the bachelor level with a degree in a related discipline.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required for the current opportunity. Future opportunities may be available in English only. Please state your language capability.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate experience in one or more of the following asset qualifications:
- Experience in Case Management
- Experience in Counselling
- Knowledge of NB Case or NB Families
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.
Operational requirements:
Applicants must have a valid driver's license to be able to transport themselves for work purposes. Travel within the region and some travel within the province is required to do home visits.
