The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Metallurgy Technician, to join our Technical Services Team in Thompson, Manitoba. This is a permanent position working on site.
Relocation will be required for this role.
As the Metallurgical Technician you will add value by delivering technical services and technical support for the plant in a safe, accurate, timely, and cost-effective manner. Your experience and skills will include plant troubleshooting, process and sample analysis, quality control, process improvement, and related research and development (R&D) activities.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Conduct metals accounting and manage SAP month-end routines, including metallurgical balances.
- Perform process sampling, field data collection, sample preparation and analysis, interpret data, and communicate results to relevant teams.
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and execution of routine analytical and technical activities using SAP Work Management, and support plant equipment/process testing.
- Monitor and track plant operating data, evaluate product quality, and recommend improvements to sampling, analysis, and equipment procedures.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot plant and laboratory analyzers and devices; educate staff on proper use, and help with repairs and purchasing lab supplies.
- Administer process technology databases and spreadsheets, strive for ongoing learning in chemistry and chemical engineering, contribute to area safety, and manage reagent inventories.

About You
Education:
- College diploma in Mineral Processing or Process/Chemical Engineering Technology. Relevant University degree is an asset.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role
- Experience in a mining or heavy industry environment would be considered an asset.
Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and MS Office tools, with experience in standard laboratory procedures and the use of process sampling and analytical equipment for gases, liquids, and solids.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety, health, and environmental standards in all work activities.
- Adapts effectively to changing priorities, works independently with minimal supervision, and maintains a high level of motivation to achieve goals.
- Proven ability to collaborate, motivate, and influence others, fostering strong working relationships and effective team environments.
