The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Metallurgist / Engineer in Training (EIT) to join our Concentrator Technical Services Team in Thompson, Manitoba.

This is a permanent position. Relocation to Thompson is required.

As a Metallurgist / EIT you will provide accurate data & analysis to meet the commitments established for the role. Your experience and skills in plant and lab scale investigations of process changes and improvements within the Thompson Concentrator Technical Services Team will contribute to the success of the operations in being a safe and reliable producer.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Demonstrate an obsession with safety and risk management and meet the requirements of all applicable safety plans.
  • Monitor metallurgical processes, equipment, and product quality and suggest improvements to test procedures.
  • Investigate process equipment control problems, evaluate unit operations and metallurgy and recommend action to maintain efficient operation.
  • Ensure accurate and thorough investigation and data analyses. Provide technical assistance to Process Improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate project options & assess their feasibility based on safety, cost impact, product quality & operations.
  • Interface with operations and maintenance Teams, Process Engineering and Facilities Engineering to identify improvement opportunities.

About You

Education:

  • Engineering Degree in Metallurgical, Chemical or Mineral Processing field with a focus on Process Control is preferable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 year of experience in a similar position.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and statistical process control skills, with strong knowledge of statistical analysis.
  • Ability to organize tasks, manage time efficiently, and work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications, with effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills, including facilitation.
  • Familiarity with Mill operations considered an asset.
