What is the opportunity?

We are seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Senior Manager to join our Strategy and Investments team at RBCx. This role will be instrumental in shaping how the bank anticipates disruption, aligns on innovation strategy, and seizes opportunities to future-proof the organization.

You will work closely with senior executives, and cross-functional stakeholders to develop high-impact investment theses, recommend growth pathways, and identify build, buy, or partner opportunities. Your work will directly influence how the bank responds to market shifts and engages with emerging technologies to service the next generation of clients for RBC.

What will you do?

• Develop and refine investment theses across emerging technologies and banking trends.

• Facilitate executive alignment on innovation priorities, driving consensus across senior leadership.

• Identify and evaluate strategic growth opportunities—whether through internal development, partnerships, or acquisitions.

• Lead and support advisory engagements that inform business units on innovation strategy and transformation efforts.

• Translate market signals and emerging trends into actionable insights for the bank's leadership.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with corporate strategy, risk appetite, and regulatory frameworks at the bank.

• Support the creation of business cases, strategic roadmaps, and transformation initiatives tied to future banking capabilities

• Support execution efforts including M&A, Investment & Partnership opportunities

What do you need to succeed?

Must have

• 5+ years of experience in strategy, innovation, management consulting, or corporate development (ideally within financial services, fintech, or technology).

• Proven ability to build strategic frameworks and influence senior stakeholders.

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with comfort in ambiguity and fast-paced environments.

• Demonstrated experience working on build/buy/partner analyses and investment thesis development.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level storytelling and presentations.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience in a technology innovation, digital banking, or fintech-focused environment.

• Understanding of emerging technology trends (e.g., AI/ML, blockchain, embedded finance) and their implications for banking.

• MBA or equivalent advanced degree.

• Familiarity with venture capital, innovation ecosystems, or startup partnerships.

• Functional experience with startup fundraising, contract negotiations and/or relationship management, and large matrixed organizations

• Prior experience using relevant tools (e.g., PitchBook, CapIQ)
