Job Description

What is the opportunity?

At RBC Insurance, we are building the next-generation Finance and Actuarial data platform to drive closer cycles, stronger controls, and trusted reporting under IFRS17. As a Product Owner within one of our data squads, you will be the voice of the business and the architect of solutions, translating financial and actuarial needs into smart, scalable data capabilities.

This role sits within a SAFe-structured ART, partnering directly with the Senior Data Product Manager who oversees the multi-year platform vision and the Product Owners of the other squads of the program. You will own the backlog and delivery for your squad while bringing deep data acumen, working hand in hand with our builders, to challenge assumptions and find innovative solutions to complex problems.

You are a product leader who understands semantic layers, data modeling, BI solutions, and data governance well enough to have meaningful conversations with engineers and architects. You combine discovery excellence with technical credibility.

What will you do?

  • Support our product manager to understand business needs, shape problem statements, and translate ideas into clear user stories and delivery requirements.

  • Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, and other agile rituals in collaboration with a Scrum Master, ensuring priorities are clear and delivery is aligned to outcomes.

  • Collaborate with technology, engineering, analytics, data science, governance, and business stakeholders to define MVPs, manage trade-offs, and enable delivery.

  • Participate to continuous discovery approach by setting workshops, user interviews, solution framing, and testing sessions.

  • Contribute to initiative planning, roadmap maintenance, and cross squad coordination.

  • Track and communicate delivery progress, risks, and outcomes across stakeholders.

  • Work closely with analysts and engineers to support product performance tracking and usage insights.

  • Help maintain and develop product artifacts and documentation in JIRA, Confluence, and team spaces.

What will you need to succeed?

Must have

  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in product management, business analysis or a delivery role within a data heavy environment.

  • Exposure to Data product development, ideally with experience working on modern data platforms (i.e., Snowflake, Databricks, GCP).

  • Strong foundation in Agile delivery, including backlog management, refinement and sprint planning.

  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and help clarify needs across business, technical and operational teams.

  • Comfortable working across cross-functional squads and managing competing priorities.

  • A problem-solving mindset.

Nice to have

  • Experience with IFRS17, subledger platform, or actuarial systems.

  • Exposure to insurance or financial services data environments.

  • Previous involvement in finance transformation or control-oriented programs.

What's in it for you?

  • A Total Rewards program that includes flexible benefits, work/life balance and career development programs and investment and retirement savings plans

  • Competitive pay and high-earning potential

  • All the tools, training, and team support you need to grow your business and career

  • Flexible work/life balance options

  • Sophisticated RBCI software tools to boost your productivity and grow your business
