Scotiabank's Global Technology Enterprise Platforms (GTEP) - Operations and Engineering – Tools & Monitoring – Global Event Management System (GEMS) team is responsible for monitoring the availability and health of IT hardware, software, and network resources. GEMS automates the analysis of events, generates alerts, helps determine root cause and assigns Alerts to the correct resource groups to restore affected services.
As the Senior CMDB Architect specializing in IT Operations Management (ITOM), you will serve as the enterprise authority for designing, governing, and optimizing the ServiceNow (GEMS) Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and its alignment to ITOM practices. You will lead CMDB and CSDM architecture, service-aware data modeling, and configuration integrity across infrastructure, applications, and operational ecosystems.
A core part of this role is to enable CSDM?aligned enhancements and drive the development of ITOM?centric Service Mapping, ensuring the CMDB becomes a reliable and actionable source of truth. You will champion the standardization of CMDB data to CSDM standards to reduce alert noise, improve accuracy of service impact analysis, and unlock future capabilities such as alert self?healing and agentic automation across the enterprise.
You will collaborate with infrastructure teams, application owners, enterprise architects, developers, and system administrators to define scalable models and evolve the platform's ITOM capabilities. This role also requires participation in 24x7 extended support as needed for Priority 1/Major incidents.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
• Architect, design, and mature the ServiceNow CMDB, including class models, relationships, attributes, and lifecycle states.
• Lead the transition toward a fully CSDM?aligned CMDB, ensuring data structures support service-aware operations.
• Enable CSDM-driven enhancements and develop ITOM-centric Service Mapping, ensuring accurate end?to?end visibility of service dependencies.
• Configure the Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) to manage multi-source data ingestion effectively.
• Standardize CMDB data, driving improvements that:
o Improve precision of service impact analysis.
o Unlock advanced automation capabilities such as alert self?healing and agentic workflows.
• Oversee CMDB health, normalization, reconciliation, governance, and data quality initiatives.
• Partner with Infrastructure, Network, Cloud, Database, and Application teams to understand environments and ensure accurate representation in the ServiceNow (GEMS) CMDB.
• Leverage IntegrationHub for automated ETL pipelines from third-party monitoring tools.
• Enable operations teams to validate topology and service dependencies.
• Define, implement, and enforce CMDB governance policies and standards.
• Conduct regular data audits and drive remediation of inconsistencies or missing relationships.
• Enhance automation coverage and mapping accuracy through continuous data optimization.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
• Proven experience implementing and architecting ServiceNow ITOM solutions in enterprise environments.
• Deep understanding of infrastructure components, networks, databases, cloud environments, and application topology.
• Extensive experience with CSDM, CMDB modeling, and ITOM data structures.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• ServiceNow System Administrator Certification required; ITOM or CMDB certifications are an asset.
