Job Description:
Role Summary
The PGTL for Automated Classification & Enrichment enables and scales capabilities that automatically discover, classify, tag, and enrich data and metadata across the Bank.
The role owns discovery, implementation, and product leadership for the enterprise Auto?Classification solution. The purpose of this function is to provide high quality enriched and trusted metadata to downstream consumers.
Accountabilities:
- Product & Platform Ownership - Define and own the ACE product vision, roadmap, and value stream, including enterprise rollout of DSPM for discovery, automated classification and tagging services, enrichment pipelines, lineage/code?scan hooks (read?only), and telemetry/log ingestion.
- Discovery & Metadata Production - Establish standards and pipelines to continuously discover data assets and produce metadata at scale (sensitivity labels, ownership, glossary mappings, domain taxonomy, criticality, usage, jurisdictions), ensuring quality, completeness, and freshness.
- Business?Context Enrichment - Automate attachment of business context to technical assets so data is governable, searchable, and fit for downstream control design and monitoring.
- Engineering Leadership - Lead cross?disciplinary teams (data platform, privacy, catalog/lineage, DevOps). Set engineering standards, SLAs/SLOs, and automation?first practices for reliable, scalable ACE services.
- Enterprise Integration - Integrate ACE with catalog/metadata lake, lineage harvesting, identity/authorization directories (read?only), data pipelines, and observability platforms to support continuous discovery and enrichment.
- Adoption & Change Enablement - Drive adoption via reference architectures, onboarding kits, and migration patterns; partner with domains and control partners to embed discovery outputs into their control design and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Implementation & Ownership
- Lead vendor/tool discovery, evaluation, and selection; define the enterprise deployment approach suitable for multi?cloud and federated on?prem environments.
- Design scalable onboarding patterns for connectors and collectors (read?only) that accommodate a broad range of data sources and platforms.
- Establish capacity and performance strategies (scheduling, parallelization, throttling, load management) to achieve high coverage with manageable noise.
- Plan environment integration (compute, networking, access methods, and runtime placement) consistent with enterprise architecture and separation?of?duties principles.
- Operate central services for findings classification and routing to control owners; maintain runbooks for hand?offs, not enforcement.
- Automated Classification & Tagging
- Implement classification models and labeling rules for sensitivity tiers and handling indicators; promote default labeling patterns to reduce unknown assets.
- Maintain taxonomies and tagging schemes that reflect domains, processes, and critical data elements; manage versioning and change control.
- Metadata & Context Enrichment
- Generate and curate business metadata (ownership, glossary terms, use?case tags, jurisdictions, retention context, lineage associations).
- Establish metadata quality controls (completeness, accuracy, timeliness) and resolve duplicates, conflicts, and drift.
- Catalog & Lineage Integration
- Feed enriched metadata to enterprise catalog and lineage stores; align identifiers to enable asset?level traceability across the data supply chain.
- Observability, Evidence & Reporting
- Define SLOs for scan frequency, ingestion latency, metadata freshness, and catalog publish; implement dashboards and alerting.
- Produce audit?ready evidence for discovery and classification activities; publish insight packs that control owners can consume to design, tune, and monitor their controls.
- Stakeholder Leadership
- Engage Privacy, Security, Records/Information Management, BISOs, Data Owners/Stewards, Platform COEs, and Domain PGTLs.
- Facilitate QBRs and program reviews; drive consensus on policies, waivers, and data/metadata standards.
Qualifications
- 10+ years across data engineering, data governance/management, privacy engineering, or metadata/catalog platforms; 5+ years leading cross?functional platform/product teams.
- Demonstrated delivery of enterprise discovery, automated classification, and enrichment using DSPM (discovery), catalog, and lineage technologies.
- Infrastructure proficiency deploying discovery platforms at scale in multi?cloud and federated on?prem environments, including:
- Modern application runtime and automation approaches;
- Core networking and connectivity concepts relevant to discovery;
- Extensible connector/collector patterns for diverse data sources;
- Operational monitoring, alerting, and service?level management.
- Strong architecture skills integrating discovery pipelines with catalog/metadata lake, lineage, identity directories (read?only), data pipelines, and observability stacks.
- Expertise in taxonomy design, glossary management, and metadata quality practices.
- Excellent stakeholder leadership and communication with Privacy, Security, Records, BISOs, Data Owners/Stewards, and Technology partners.
- Experience with progressive rollout strategies, capacity planning, and cost/performance optimization of large?scale scanning workloads.
- Familiarity with financial?services data protection and records requirements.
