Department Overview

As part of Global Compliance, Privacy along with other risk and oversight partners provide objective guidance, independent challenge, and risk-based oversight of TD's compliance with applicable privacy laws, rules, and regulations (LRRs). Privacy plays a key role supporting TD's Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) Framework which sets out the structures, processes and key control elements through which Risk Owners and Oversight Functions globally are expected to manage and mitigate regulatory compliance risk inherent in their business or corporate segment activities.

Privacy's mandate is to promote a culture of privacy compliance through global and jurisdictional policies, standards, and guidelines that: (i) align to regulatory requirements and TD's Enterprise RCM Framework and related Standards; (ii) reinforce enterprise-wide privacy accountability; and (iii) are adaptable to regulatory change and the evolving needs of our businesses.

The Privacy Program Governance and Operations team has a global mandate, working in partnership with the jurisdictional Privacy Offices.

Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Privacy Program Governance and Operations, this role supports various activities within Privacy, with an emphasis on: Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) oversight (e.g., cross-jurisdictional risk assessments, etc.), Monitoring and Testing, and the maintenance of Privacy's enterprise-wide Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) and Privacy Event Management (PEM) tools.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Timely completion of TPRM Privacy Control Assessments (CAs) and supporting resources.

  • Maintain the CA questions/process to incorporate changing regulatory requirements and/or risk considerations.

  • Refine Privacy's operating model with other Risk Oversight Functions engaged in the CA review process.

  • Support the enhancement, maintenance and change management of the PIA and PEM tools including administrative duties and delivery of user support, testing, and training.

  • Actively support Privacy's Monitoring and Testing activities including sampling, execution and publishing of reports with the necessary follow up.

  • Provide guidance to impacted areas to support privacy compliance.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and be an ambassador for TD's privacy program across the organization.

  • Support other activities within the Privacy Program Governance and Operations team (e.g., reporting, audits, training, forums, etc.), where required.

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Privacy's governance documentation (e.g., policies, standards, guidelines, and processes).

  • Proactively identify areas of enhancement, including automation and/or streamlining of processes, to create efficiencies within our operations.

  • Contribute to and support, the execution of Privacy's strategy and programs.

  • Provide objective guidance, support and advice to promote strong privacy controls and processes.

  • Participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment and continuously enhance privacy knowledge/expertise.

  • Supporting special projects, as required.

Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) with a minimum of 3+ years relevant experience.

  • Background in Compliance, Risk, Project Management and/or Privacy (including certification with the International Association of Privacy Professionals) would be considered an asset.

  • Understanding of Audit and Monitoring and Testing practices and methodologies.

  • Demonstrate strong:

    • ability to work independently, think critically and make decisions;

    • problem solving mindset with confidence to take initiative;

    • writing skills to create reports, documents, correspondence, etc.;

    • collaboration with a variety of stakeholders to influence, build consensus and effect creative and responsive solutions;

    • attention to detail; and

    • organizational and business awareness.

  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced/evolving environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to interact confidently at all levels of the organization.

  • Experience supporting governance documentation (i.e., policies, frameworks, processes, guidelines), enterprise-wide initiatives/projects and project plans, and presentations.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
