Job SummaryWe are seeking a strong and dynamic Manager of Employee Communications and Engagement who will be responsible for developing and implementing the health authority?s overall employee communications and engagement strategy. Work will include managing strategic planning and execution of employee communications and employee engagement initiatives, activities and tools at a provincial level. The manager understands the critical role of employee communications and supports strategies that contribute to enhanced employee engagement.

Working in a team environment, the manager will work to share relevant information internally with staff and physicians. Reporting to the Senior Director responsible for employee communications, the manager will collaborate across zones and program areas to enhance employee communications; lead internal promotional activities; support employee engagement/recognition and change management. The manager will:

Provide strategic advice and a range of employee communications and engagement services in support of the organization's vision, mission and values and to achieve its strategic goals.
Research, initiate, execute, manage, monitor and evaluate employee communications plans and strategies for a range of projects; manage complex employee communications issues; and coordinate and lead communications for internal corporate events.
Write, edit and prepare materials including content targeting internal audiences and using internal communication channels.
Identify, establish and manage a network of employee communication channels, distribution networks and tools to strengthen effective internal communications and enable team, departmental and organizational objectives.
Seek opportunities and develop plans to proactively share stories across the zones using an array of methods and platforms.
Implement, coordinate and manage a program and a budget for internal promotional and employee recognition products and activities in collaboration with internal and external partners.
Ensure effective dissemination of information for employees and physicians across zones, maintaining consistency in messaging while respecting diverse perspectives and differences.
Employ a range of employee engagement methods to inform, consult, obtain feedback, involve and/or collaborate with internal stakeholders to help create an inclusive environment of shared understanding, ensuring opportunities for staff and physicians to be connected with the work of the organization and its mission.
Provide clear and effective communication in response to crisis or emergency situations to inform, reassure and guide staff and other internal stakeholders.
Identify key performance indicators (KPIs), monitor, evaluate and report on the performance of employee communications and engagement plans, initiatives and campaigns, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
Identify, create and contribute to the development of policies, processes and practices and interventions for capacity building and to support effective employee communications and engagement across the organization, including consideration for hard-to-reach staff such as shift, remote and front-line workers.
Seek opportunities to proactively promote and recognize the organization's people, achievements, services, innovations and strategic decisions to contribute to a positive organizational culture, build pride in the organization, support a healthy workplace as well as recruitment and retention efforts.
Contribute to capacity-building initiatives and assist in the development and delivery of communications training which may include conducting workshops or webinars, offering professional development sessions, developing presentation decks and other training resources and activities to enhance staff and leadership competencies in communications.
Actively participate in some provincial/zone-based committees and project working groups, while fostering a strong sense of partnership among employees and physicians.
Stay up to date on trends, industry standards and best practices, ensuring that employee communications and engagement services are effective and that decision-making is evidenced-informed and compliant with provincial and federal legislation, collective agreements, medical staff by laws and other relevant factors.
Build positive and strong working relationships with human resources staff and other colleagues, employees, partners and other internal and external interest holders.?

Job Qualifications

Education
Completion of an undergraduate degree (master?s degree is considered an asset) in communications, public relations, human resources or organizational behavior supplemented by other related field is required
Membership and/or affiliation with professional associations like the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), the Canadian Public Relations Association, Project Management Association of Canada, the Canadian College of Health Leaders or Canadian Health Executive designation may be an asset.

Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in internal or employee communications is required.
Experience providing strategic communications advice to senior leaders.
Experience working with HR and senior colleagues and strong experience of building networks and relationships to deliver results.
Change management and project management training and/or experience may be considered an asset.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Knowledge and understanding of internal corporate communications and the health-care system.
Ability to develop and execute communications plans and strategies for a variety of internal projects, events and other initiatives.
Expert writer who can grasp complex medical and technical information and communicate it in an easy-to-understand manner for broad internal audiences.
Ability to write compelling materials for print, internal websites and other channels targeting employees and internal stakeholders, as well as the technical aptitude to post content to social/digital/email and other IT communication platforms.
Excellent communication, writing, editing and presentation skills with strong technical aptitude and superior knowledge of IT communication technologies and industry standards.
Experience maintaining internal communication systems, e.g., intranet and content management systems.
Extensive knowledge of current trends and practices related to internal communications in complex environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and meticulous in their work.
Ability to build and maintain effective professional working relationships and provide excellent customer service.
Demonstrate good judgment and an ability to build consensus among groups with differing priorities.
Ability to function independently in a high pressure, diverse, and changing environment while working with sensitive information.
Self-motivated and possess excellent time management and organizational skills in addition to the ability to work within a team environment.

A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
Ability to work outside of regular working hours and to travel to other sites as required.Remote work opportunities available.
