Job Details:
The Operations Supervisor will oversee daily operations at the food bank and liaise between the board, volunteers, clients, partners, and community groups. The supervisor will monitor deliveries, maintain and order inventory, collect and submit data, and interface with clients in a respectful manner, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
This is a one-year contract position with potential for renewal and requires 30-35hrs per week, variable M-F hours (occasional evenings required)
Key Responsibilities:
• Building and maintaining positive, respectful and trusting relationships cross-functionally within the organization, with volunteers, clients and partners
• Recruiting new volunteers and coordinating orientation, ongoing training, scheduling and retention
• Timely communication and follow-up with clients, board members, volunteers and community partners as required
• Responsible for adhering to Board policies and relevant legislation, for volunteers, clients, community partners and all others who interact with the Food Bank. Refers any issues to the Board of Directors for resolution
• Collecting data, maintaining accurate records, reporting, and preparing monthly board presentations
• Attends regular meetings with NBFDA and as required with community partners
• Attends each regular Board of Directors meeting and reports on Food Bank activities and statistics
• Handles order preparation and distribution; unpacking/restocking; and any other seasonal or ad hoc duties of the Food Bank
• Ensures appropriate maintenance of equipment required for food storage
• Duties may vary, subject to internal and external policies, and as directed by the Board.
Requirements:
• A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check
• A valid Drivers License
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Flexibility with work hours
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
Key Attributes:
• Experience in supervising and managing volunteers in a nonprofit or community organization setting considered an asset
• Strong administrative skills with the ability to organize schedules, maintain records, and track data
• Effective communication skills to present information about the organization's mission and volunteer opportunities
• Demonstrates leadership qualities to recruit, inspire and motivate volunteers
• Demonstrates knowledge of social services and community resources, as well as a proven ability to build strong relationships within the community
• Able to work both independently and within a team
• Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
• Ability to problem solve and adjust to changing needs and priorities
• Proficiency in Windows and MS Office suite and the ability to learn other Food Bank data
