Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.

What you will do

The Project Management Office is accountable for providing leadership and direction for all transportation major capital projects. The activities cover a broad range of subjects related to bridges, roads, culverts and other structures, relationships, both internal and external, and matter of strategic and tactical importance to the department.

Reporting to the Assistant Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • ensuring projects are executed in compliance with contracts, quality standards, and specified requirements;
  • establishing and maintaining the project baseline and ensuring accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle;
  • identifying project risks and developing mitigation strategies and solutions;
  • supporting preparation and analysis of cost data, project schedules, estimates, and change impacts;
  • reporting on project progress;
  • communicating project expectations and presenting to executive leadership;
  • building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships critical to project success;
  • supporting the implementation of automated processes and digital tools to improve project efficiency and cost effectiveness.

Work environment:

  • Office location: 440 King Street, Fredericton.
  • Open office layout.
  • Standard hours of work: Monday – Friday.

  • Some travel within the province will be required.

Essential Qualifications:

Project Manager – Pay Band 5:

  • University degree in Business Administration with five (5) years of relevant experience in managing time, cost, quality and multiple internal and external stakeholders in a matrix environment.
  • A recognized Project Management certification.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.

Project Manager – Pay Band 4:

  • University degree in Business Administration with four (4) years of relevant experience in managing time, cost, quality and multiple internal and external stakeholders in a matrix environment.
  • A recognized Project Management certification.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following assets:

  • experience and skills in areas of infrastructure;
  • experience with project management software;
  • experience working in a government setting and environment;

SALARY:

Pay Band 5: $2,574.00 to $3,595.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.

Pay Band 4: $2,249.00 to $3,145.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.
