ACCOUNTING CLERK (BAND LEVEL 4)

DUTIES

Reporting to the Administrative Staff Specialist III, the successful applicant will perform accounting and administrative work within the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. Duties include processing and reconciling a variety of operating, departmental, and research budgets while ensuring compliance with university financial policies and procedures; preparing and verifying purchasing requisitions including IT procurement, printing services and tech services requisitions; auditing and processing travel request, advance and claim forms; preparing direct payments; producing and interpreting routine reports from banner and FAST; performing corresponding corrective actions including preparing and processing journal entries and labour distribution forms; verifying accounts receivable and maintaining accurate financial records and tracking systems. The Accounting Clerk completes receiving on purchase orders, reviews and reconciles monthly financial statements, updates the Faculty's Financial Oversight Checklist, and ensures all corrections and adjustments are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

The position also involves maintaining records related to procurement card transactions, Bell Mobility accounts, and graduate student payroll. The incumbent serves as the first point of contact for the Finance Office, responding to inquiries from faculty, staff, and students, and providing guidance on financial procedures. Additional duties include electronic filing, ordering of supplies, supporting other Administrative Staff Specialists in the Finance office as needed; and performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (1-3 years) in accounting and related clerical work; completion of a three-year accounting program from an institution of technology; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures; in-depth knowledge with Banner Finance, FAST, Microsoft Excel, or related software; exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities; and customer service skills are essential.

SALARY $50,294 - $58,998 per annum (CUPE Local 1615)
