(Permanent Position)

DUTIES

Reporting to the Director, Physical Infrastructure & Sustainability, the successful applicant will perform independent work representing the Department of Facilities Management in providing day-to-day project oversite relative to ongoing minor capital projects. Duties include, planning, supporting design and supporting management of minor capital projects up to five (5) million dollars per project; coordinating and communicating with consultants, architects, engineers, contractors, inspectors, clients and in-house project staff on assigned minor capital projects; providing leadership and effective management of technical staff including planning, scheduling and assigning projects and responsibilities to unionized Project Technologists; reviewing all projects to ensure compliance with codes, accessibility regulations, client intent, maintainability, and compatibility with existing facilities; supervising and guiding staff in set procedures; reviewing the support needs of project staff and implementing measures and/or new procedures, as required; recognizing and resolving conflicts, backlogs, and delivery issues; assisting and directing staff to coordinate construction activities with other university departments; preparing minor capital projects budget; ensuring quality and Occupational Health and Safety procedures and standards are included on all aspects of work; preparing required reports and maintaining appropriate files; and performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Thorough experience (5+ years) in architecture or engineering, graduation with a degree from a four-year college or university with major course work in architecture, engineering or a related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Membership in Newfoundland Association of Architects, PEGNL or other relevant designations/certifications would be considered an asset. Experience dealing with multi-disciplinary aspects of project implementation and a thorough knowledge of building codes/standards are required. Project Management experience, including experience in supervising project teams is required.

SALARY $82,417 - $105,534 per annum
