The employees of EECD develop programs and offer services that support parents and educators and encourage learners from birth to 21 years old, to achieve lasting and transferable learning that will serve them throughout their lives.

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) is seeking an individual to join the Teacher Certification team as a Registrar. The Teacher Certification branch is responsible for ensuring that individuals teaching in New Brunswick public schools meet provincial certification requirements. Teaching is a regulated profession across Canada, and in New Brunswick, educators must hold either an interim or a permanent teacher's certificate.

What you will do:
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister of Policy, Strategic Planning and the Project Management Office, the Registrar provides leadership and direction to the Teacher Certification team and is responsible for the evaluation of academic and professional credentials of applicants seeking teacher certification in New Brunswick, including out-of-province and internationally educated applicants.

As a key leader within the branch, you will ensure a consistent, fair, and client-focused certification process. You will oversee and guide evaluations of teaching experience, professional learning, and coursework related to certification decisions, upgrades, and leadership credentials, while upholding New Brunswick's standards and supporting an exceptional client experience. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to strengthen the integrity of the public education system by ensuring that educators entering and advancing within the profession are appropriately certified.

  • Participate in national initiatives such as Pathway to Teach Canada and the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC) as well as serve on various provincial committees.
  • Lead and supervise employees within the Office of Teacher Certification Branch, including performance management, coaching, and professional development.

Who you are:
A leader who champions an exceptional client experience while upholding New Brunswick's high standards for teacher certification. A collaborator who provides clear and timely advice to applicants, using expertise and process to ensure fair, transparent, and client-centered experience.

A partner who works closely with post-secondary institutions, school districts, and provincial teacher organizations by sharing knowledge, staying attuned to emerging trends, and responding to evolving priorities.
