The NB Health Link Program provides access to primary care for New Brunswickers that are un-attached to a primary care provider.
As part of the NB Health Link core team, the Regional Medical Lead, reports to the Program's Medical Director. The Regional Medical Lead is responsible for advocating and promoting the NBHL program as well as being the senior medical point of contact for a specific geographical region. The Regional Medical Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring high-quality care, aligning regional services with organizational standards, and optimizing resources to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

Role & Responsibilities: The Regional Medical Lead resource shall perform tasks including, but not limited to those identified in the sub-sections below.
Leadership & Engagement
- Advise on NBHL policies, procedures, and directives to ensure they align with regional needs and goals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with regional leaders, healthcare providers, and key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with community health stakeholders to assess local healthcare challenges, improve access, and explore innovations in primary care delivery.
- Participate in system-wide meetings to refine and optimize care pathways.
- Attend quarterly medical leadership meetings with the Medical Director to discuss strategic goals.
- Engage in clinic-level meetings to improve clinic operations and foster cross-functional collaboration.
Local Clinic Stewardship
- Engage in clinic-level meetings to improve clinic operations and foster cross-functional collaboration
- Engage in local collaborative Interdisciplinary meetings to review complex cases and provide opportunities for continuous education with clinic staff
- Participate in implementation of new clinic development and collaborative initiatives
- Engage in initiatives for improved rural access to primary within the zone (i.e. Augmented virtual stewardship within the Zone)
- Lend a hand to the program to assist patients with more complex needs or a surge in demand arises.
Provider recruitment, retention and support
- Support efforts in recruiting local providers and strengthening the provider network.
- Ensure effective communication among providers to promote collaboration and continuity of care.
- Lead local provider meetings to share program updates and gather feedback for ongoing improvement.
Continuous improvement
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at expanding service capacity and enhancing patient care.
- Assist in identifying key metrics to measure program success and evaluate its effectiveness over time.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education / Experience
- Medical Doctor (MD) degree and active medical license in New Brunswick
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in a primary healthcare setting.
- Previous leadership or management experience in healthcare.
Knowledge / Skills
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, compliance, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and a passion for community health
- Excellent interpersonal and client management skills, with the ability to grasp patient-centered design principles.
- Experience working in a Cloud-based Electronic medical record.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Self-started and ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Ability to motivate a team confidently.
- Effective communication skills with demonstrated ability to target messages to different audiences and persuade to best fit solutions and identify key communications in a timely manner.
- Proven relationship management skills with an ability to build and maintain professional relationships, understand the principals of 'needs anticipation' and acts as an advocate for all program stakeholders.
- Demonstrated skills with respect to management of stakeholder expectations and task management.
- Strong sense of teamwork, presenting a professional image and exhibiting a solid work ethic.
- Service oriented.
The Base Pay range may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and education/training. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Medavie employees may participate in various performance-based incentive programs. Payments under these programs are discretionary and subject to both individual and organizational results.
