About the Role

We are seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. This position can be filled at either the intermediate or senior level based on experience. In this role, you will support timely and accurate financial reporting, perform key account reconciliations, and provide meaningful analysis to help leaders make informed decisions. You will participate in budgeting, forecasting, audits, and year?end activities. Senior candidates may take ownership of more complex reconciliations, advanced analysis, and process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries and complete account reconciliations (bank, capital assets, prepaid assets, payables, and payroll?related accounts).
  • Support monthly financial reporting by preparing financial statements, reports, and analytical summaries.
  • Conduct variance analysis, resolve discrepancies, and communicate insights to managers.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting, including preparing schedules and updating assumptions.
  • Prepare year?end working papers, audit schedules, and support external audit requirements.
  • Contribute to improvements in financial processes, reporting, and internal controls.
  • Provide financial analysis for projects, cost assessments, and business initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Payroll and Finance teams to ensure accurate posting and reconciliation of payroll and benefit accounts.
  • Senior-level candidates: Lead complex reconciliations, enhance reporting tools, and recommend or implement process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Post?secondary education in accounting, business, or finance (CPA designation or progress toward CPA considered an asset).
  • 1-5+ years of experience in accounting or financial analysis, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
    • Intermediate: 1-3 years
    • Senior: 3-5+ years with experience in more complex analysis and forecasting
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data analysis functions.
  • Proficiency with computerized accounting systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem?solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to investigate variances, interpret financial information, and communicate findings clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently under deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism.
  • Bilingualism (ENG/FR) considered an asset.

The Base Pay range may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and education/training. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Medavie employees may participate in various performance-based incentive programs. Payments under these programs are discretionary and subject to both individual and organizational results.
