Reporting to the Assistant Maintenance Manager at the Saint John Laundry facility on King William Road, the Industrial Mechanic will be responsible to perform skilled mechanical work at the journeyperson level in the installation, assembly, maintenance, and repair of mechanical components of building systems, equipment, and furnishings.

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Weld, fabricate machines, and modify equipment, machines, parts and system components.
  • Installs staging and rigging for the hoisting and moving of equipment.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical system failures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Show others how to perform tasks or duties as part of departmental orientation.
  • Adhere to corporate policies and procedures.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Work with pumps, conveyors, presses and other heavy machinery.
  • Assist in repair/maintenance projects as required.
  • Supervise routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a journeyperson's certificate in the industrial mechanic occupation as issued under the Apprenticeship and Occupation Act of the Province of New Brunswick.

  • 5 years of work experience as an Industrial Mechanic
  • Knowledge of safe operating procedures
  • Operate Tablet based work order and preventative maintenance system
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations.
  • Written and spoken competence in English isrequired.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate the following asset qualifications:

  • PLC knowledge.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic & hydraulics.
  • Aluminum welding experience.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must be available to work rotating days, evenings, nights, weekend, and Statutory Holidays.
  • Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Criminal History Clearance prior to appointment.
