Counter Salesperson - Permanent Full Time - Saint John

Bird Stairs, one of the largest independent multi division distributors in Atlantic Canada, is growing and looking for someone to grow with us. The ideal candidate would have a background in the trades or has worked or is currently working for a plumbing, electrical, HVAC or construction products distributor. Our team is seeking a motivated, energetic customer-oriented problem solver. Someone that builds endurable relationships, thinks outside the box and takes initiative, will succeed in our organization and find career growth opportunities.

As a successful counter salesperson, you would be the "go to person" for our valued customers. While our customers count on us to have products on our shelves, they also count on us to track down technical data, resolve product issues, provide demonstrations to help them find the best options.

Responsibilities:

• Greeting customers, taking orders, and assisting them in any way possible with their purchase
• Ongoing learning to increase product knowledge to inform and increase sales
• Calling customers when orders are ready for pick-up
• Entering orders and expediting to ensure customer deadlines are met
• Processing payments
• Picking customer orders from stock in the warehouse
• Additional job duties may include stocking shelves, taking inventory, marking price tags, setting up displays, and cleaning the customer area during quiet times to ensure a neat appearance

Qualifications:

• Plumbing knowledge would be an asset
• High school diploma or GED
• Good communication skills
• Sales and customer service
• Supportive team player
