MEDICARE SYSTEMS ANALYST

The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Medicare and Physician Services Branch as a Medicare Systems Analyst in the Fredericton office. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Fee-For-Service Physician Services, Claims Assessment, and Medicare Systems.

As a Medicare Systems Analyst, you will:

  • Manage, support, and maintain the Medicare Operations System by identifying and implementing system enhancements, developing recommendations, and ensuring efficient functionality for resident registration, eligibility, and physician claim entry;
  • Use a comprehensive understanding of the Medicare business and system to liaise with stakeholders, including Medicare staff and system developers;
  • Collaborate with Service New Brunswick, third party vendors, and other GNB departments to ensure systems meet business requirements;
  • Monitor outcomes related to Collaborative Care Clinics to ensure successful performance and alignment with organizational objectives;
  • Evaluate current system capabilities and recommend strategies to enhance efficiency and improve communication;
  • Manage system access and troubleshoot problems related to security levels, while maintaining a listing of all users and their security levels;
  • Participate in, and support, special projects and initiatives related to policies, programs, and processes (e.g., physician compensation fee codes, models, etc.);
  • Participate in related Federal/Provincial/Territorial initiatives, committees, and working groups;
  • Provide Support to the Privacy Lead on complex issues by managing adherence to privacy policies and liaising with various stakeholders.
  • Perform various other duties as required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Business, Computer Science, or a related field, and
  • Four (4) years of experience in the health care sector that includes experience interpreting acts, regulations, and policies, or in another related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

In the event that this competition poses difficulties in recruiting a qualified candidate, a covering off appointment at a lower level may be made. In that case, candidates with less than the required related years of experience may also be considered.

Asset Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following asset qualifications:

  • Completed coursework in Medical Terminology or has work experience using Medical Terminology
  • Knowledge of related procedures and fee-for-service billings
