Site Description: The Toronto Grace Health Centre (TGHC) is a 119-bed facility located in the heart of downtown Toronto. The TGHC provides medically complex, and specialized care and services to those individuals who require Complex Continuing Care, Post Acute Care Rehabilitation and Palliative Care. The care and services provided at TGHC help facilitate the patient flow through the health care system and ensures recovery to those individuals who may return to their homes or to Long Term Care (LTC) facilities in their communities.

Position Details:
Position: (Temporary) Full-Time Security Guard

Site: Toronto Grace

Averaging Agreement : ESA

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Hours: 3:30pm -11:30pm

Payrate: $18.40/hrs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular patrols of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure a safe and secure environment
  • Surveillance & Monitoring: Operate and monitor security cameras, alarm systems, and other surveillance equipment; promptly report suspicious activity
  • Access Control: Monitor and control access points, ensuring only authorized individuals enter restricted or sensitive areas
  • Emergency Response: Respond swiftly to medical emergencies, fire alarms, security threats, and evacuation procedures; assist hospital staff as required
  • Customer Service & Assistance: Greet and assist patients, visitors, and staff; provide directions and ensure compliance with hospital policies
  • Conflict De-escalation: Manage and de-escalate tense situations calmly and professionally to maintain a safe environment
  • Incident Reporting: Accurately document daily activities, incidents, accidents, and security breaches in detailed written reports
  • Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with hospital staff and, when required, local law enforcement to ensure coordinated and effective security operations
  • Policy Enforcement: Enforce hospital policies and procedures while maintaining professionalism and respect for patients and visitors

Must have experience with handling potentially violent patients suffering from mental health illnesses

Prerequisites:

  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
  • Covid Vaccine two doses
  • Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
  • Must be able to Clean Shave for N-95 Mask
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
