LOCATION: Operating off the Coast of Newfoundland (NL), Prince Edward Island (PEI), Nova Scotia (NS) and New Brunswick (NB)
TYPE OF VESSEL: Inter Viking; Live Fish Carrier
ROTATION: 35/35
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Contract, Full Time
CONTRACT: Short Term Contract; Estimate One (1) Year
NUMBER OF POSITIONS: One (1)
JOB SUMMARY: Able Seafarer duties are to carry out all tasks and duties as directed by the Master or Chief Officer to ensure safe and efficient operation on deck department.
PRE-REQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum 1 Year of Experience working on a wellboat (live fish carrier)
- STCW II/5 Able Seafarer License or STCW Equivalent
- Good understanding of live fish handling
- STCW Basic Safety (STCW VI-1.1, VI-1.2, VI-1.3, VI-1.4)
- Seafarer Medical (STCW)
- Designated Security Duties (STCW VI-6.4)
- Fish Welfare Course
- Cyber Security Awareness (DNV certified)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for maintenance and repairs on deck
- Shall take part in maintenance in the engine room when needed
- Responsible for cleaning cargo holds and the ship in general
- Shall keep the deck stores and paint stores in good condition, and keep the paint safely stored
- Take part in sea watches according to watch plan
- Shall take part in bunkering operation and delivering of spill oil when needed
- Shall take part in loading and discharging of the ship
- Shall take part in mooring activities
- Shall take part in tasks specified in the Emergency plan
- Shall keep own record of rest hours
- Promote and encourage others in safe work practices and use of PPE onboard
- Perform other duties as assigned.
