Job Summary
The primary purpose of the Clinical Occupational Therapist (OT II) is to apply advanced professional, administrative, clinical knowledge, skills, critical thinking in the provision of expert occupational therapy client centered services for individuals for the Community Supports Program. Work includes client management for the area of practice, input into program and policy development, project development, quality initiatives, planning and evaluation activities of the clinical service and the profession, participating in evidence-based practice, education and community capacity building.
This position is responsible for assessing the occupational participation of adults with primarily physical disabilities living in the community. This Occupational Therapy position is responsible for the identification of occupational performance areas, completion of assessments, co - creating treatment goals and objectives, providing intervention, establishing outcomes and follow up plan with the client and caregivers. Services are provided primarily in the client's home. This is a challenging position, which requires an individual to practice independently to be an integral member of an interdisciplinary team, build respectful relationships with clients, team members, and others involved in the systems in which they work. The Occupational Therapist will recognize the social, structural, political, and ecological determinants of health impacting clients.
The Occupational Therapist receives clinical support and mentoring from the Occupational Therapist III for CSP. The position supervises Rehabilitation Assistants as part of the delivery of interventions to clients. The OT will be responsible to precept Occupational Therapy students and offer other clinical education experience to students within NL Health Services.
This position reports to the Division Manager of the Community Support Program and maintains accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Occupational Therapy for integrity and professional practice issues

Regularly stands and walks, and drives to and from sites/homes within the region.

Fine finger/precision is required on a regular basis when performing work on the computer
Visual and auditory concentration is regularly required as well as higher than normal levels of attentiveness or alertness.
Job Qualifications
Graduate of a school or program of occupational therapy recognized by the board.
Current licensure with the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Therapy Board.
A minimum of three years of experience within the last five working as a Clinical Occupational Therapist in adult physical health is required.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with interprofessional team members, patients/residents/clients and their families in a one-to-one and group environment.
Demonstrated effective written communication skills required for client documentation and report writing.
Demonstrated effective time management skills.
Demonstrated ability to direct, supervise and mentor Occupational Therapy Support Workers and students.
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interprofessional team.
Proven ability to assume professional responsibility for safe, ethical and effective practice.
Conditions of employment include the use of a private vehicle.
