Job Summary:

As the primary point of contact for individuals and families seeking support, information, and guidance related to dementia, the First Link Coordinator plays a vital role in building trusting relationships and providing person-centered care. The First Link Coordinator connects clients with appropriate community resources, in-person programs, and support services, ensuring they receive timely, compassionate, and comprehensive assistance throughout their dementia journey.

This is a part-time, in-office position based at our Resource Centre, and candidates must be available to work on-site.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and skilled in client support, with the ability to manage sensitive conversations and guide individuals through challenging situations. This position plays a key role in advancing the society mission by ensuring that clients feel supported, informed, and empowered at every stage of their journey.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive in-office and telephone support to individuals and family members affected byAlzheimer's and other dementias
  • Support coordination of fundraising initiatives on a local level
  • Maintain confidential client files
  • Send information packages to families and individuals who contact the office for support and information
  • Organize, promote and facilitate monthly face to face and virtual programs and services
  • Support volunteer base with recruitment and training to expand current programming in under-serviced communities
  • Coordinate and initiate presentations and speaking engagements
  • Must be able to forge strong partnerships with like-minded organizations in the community to build awareness and strengthen the organization
  • Work to expand awareness to the general public through various awareness activities
  • Participate in provincial and national activities when requested
  • Assist in administrative duties or responsibilities that may be necessary in the overall plan of ASNB
  • Maintain the CRM database
  • Prepare bank deposits
  • Travel as required

Qualifications:

  • A 2-yr diploma in health or social field and experience in management is an asset
  • Experience working with not-for-profit organizations and supporting fund development initiatives
  • Community awareness with the ability to build trusting relationships with community partners
  • Sensitive to the impact of Alzheimer's disease on the individual and the family
  • Must be approachable, have solid communication skills and a warm positive attitude with active listening skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of MS Office
  • Possess a valid NB driver's license and be available to travel within the region
  • Ability to work outside regularly scheduled hours as required
  • Bilingual in French and English is considered an asset
