Position Description:
The Facilitator is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based workshops on mental health and wellness to diverse audiences across New Brunswick. These workshops-delivered both in-person and virtually-aim to increase mental health awareness, reduce stigma, promote well-being, and support recovery-oriented practices.
Working collaboratively with the Education and Training Services team and local Community Coordinators, the Facilitator ensures that workshops are thoughtfully planned, effectively coordinated, and successfully executed. This includes tailoring content to meet the unique needs of various audiences, fostering inclusive and respectful learning environments, and maintaining alignment with CMHA of NB's mission and standards.
The role also involves preparing workshop materials, managing logistics, and utilizing appropriate technology for virtual delivery. The Facilitator is expected to travel regularly throughout the province to reach communities in different regions, adapting content and delivery methods to reflect local contexts and cultural considerations.
In addition to workshop delivery, the Facilitator contributes to program evaluation and continuous improvement by collecting participant feedback, analyzing outcomes, and recommending enhancements. They also engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with mental health research, best practices, and facilitation techniques.
This position requires flexibility, strong communication and organizational skills, and a commitment to promoting mental health education and peer-informed support across New Brunswick.
Key Responsibilities:
Workshop Delivery:
- Deliver engaging, interactive, and educational workshops to a variety of audiences, including community groups, organizations, healthcare professionals, and other community partners.
- Facilitate both in-person and virtual workshops on mental health-related topics, following established curriculum and approved content.
- Tailor presentations and activities to suit the specific needs and interests of diverse groups, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity.
- Foster a safe, respectful, and engaging environment for participants to learn, ask questions, and share experiences.
Collaboration & Coordination:
- Work closely with the Lead Facilitator to ensure timely and efficient scheduling of workshops across regions.
- Collaborate with local Community Coordinators to identify key audiences, determine specific workshop needs, and address any logistical considerations for successful delivery.
- Maintain open communication with colleagues and partners to ensure workshops align with community needs and CMHA of NB's objectives.
Workshop Preparation & Materials:
- Prepare all materials needed for workshops, including presentations, handouts, and resources, ensuring they are up-to-date and aligned with CMHA of NB's standards.
- Ensure all technology and tools required for virtual workshops are set up and functioning properly.
- Provide participants with additional resources and tools to support their learning and encourage continued engagement with mental health topics.
Travel & Regional Delivery:
- Travel to various regions across the province to facilitate workshops, ensuring that sessions are offered in a variety of locations to maximize accessibility.
- Adapt to the needs of different regions and communities, ensuring that workshops are culturally relevant and tailored to the audience.
- Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate regional travel and participant availability, including occasional evening or weekend sessions.
Monitoring & Evaluation:
- Collect feedback from workshop participants through surveys, evaluations, or informal discussions to assess the effectiveness of the training.
- Analyze feedback and identify areas for improvement in workshop delivery and content, making recommendations for updates or changes as needed.
- Report on workshop outcomes, participant engagement, and impact to the Manager of Education and Training Services, contributing to ongoing program improvement.
Professional Development & Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current on the latest mental health research, trends, and best practices to ensure the workshop content is accurate, relevant, and evidence-based.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to improve facilitation skills and knowledge of mental health topics.
- Continuously improve workshop delivery techniques, including virtual platforms, to enhance participant experience and engagement.
Administrative & Reporting Duties:
- Complete all necessary administrative tasks related to workshop logistics, participant registration, and feedback collection.
- Maintain accurate records of workshop attendance, participant evaluations, and any follow-up actions required.
- Report regularly to the Manager of Education and Training Services regarding workshop activities, successes, and challenges.
Qualifications:
- A diploma or degree in education, health promotion, social work, psychology, community development, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in group facilitation, community education, health promotion, or a related area.
- Experience delivering mental health-related content or working in a non-profit/healthcare setting is considered an asset.
- A combination of related work experience and education may be considered.
- Proficiency in both English and French languages is mandatory.
- Excellent facilitation and public speaking skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences in both in-person and virtual formats.
- Technological proficiency in virtual presentation platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams), as well as Microsoft Office 365 (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and Databases is required.
- A valid Work Permit is mandatory for temporary residents.
- Residency in New Brunswick (NB) or willingness to relocate is mandatory.
- A new Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory.
