Job Details:
We are looking for a new board member to join our Board of Directors.
The ideal candidate should have expertise in information technology and, ideally, some experience or expertise in accounting. Priority will be given to candidates who can demonstrate experience in managing a digital transformation.
Directors are collectively responsible for guiding and effectively overseeing Assumption Life's senior management. In carrying out their duties, a director must:
- Ensure efficiency, transparency, integrity, and fairness within Assumption Life;
- Promote the adoption of sound governance practices;
- Ensure Assumption Life's compliance with its regulations;
- Maximize Assumption Life's value; and
- Ensure the continuity and sustainability of Assumption Life.
Each director is expected to:
- Act with integrity and independence, respecting Assumption Life's values, Code of Ethics, and confidentiality of information.
- Dedicate sufficient time and preparation to board and committee meetings, annual general meetings, and ongoing training.
- Focus on strategic issues and results, while supporting sound governance and oversight.
- Stay informed and knowledgeable about the insurance and financial services industry, Assumption Life's strategic plan, regulatory framework, technologies, investment strategies, and risk management.
- Leverage personal expertise (e.g., law, actuarial science, accounting) to contribute to board decisions.
- Engage constructively in discussions, ask relevant questions, and provide informed, independent opinions.
Position Requirements
We are looking for a candidate who ideally possesses skills in both information technology and accounting. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in managing technological transformation projects.
Holding a governance certification such as the ICD.D or ASC designation would also be considered an asset.
