The Engineer I-IV is responsible for managing all aspects of design project work. This includes ensuring NB Power is prepared to complete the preliminary designs required for Facility Studies, identifying and selecting design projects suitable for in-house execution, and overseeing and coordinating all design work performed by external consultants to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance with organizational standards.
Key functions include:
- Manage project work, complete design, update drawings to reflect as-built conditions, order materials and apparatus, and prepare job scopes for assigned projects.
- Provide field support to address installation issues or provide clarifications as needed.
- Develop and write material specifications when ordering new apparatus.
Our ideal teammate will have:
- A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related Applied Science
- Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer or Member-in-Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB).
- Three years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Preparing electrical designs, drawings, and schematics for utilities or industrial/commercial facilities.
- Using computer-assisted design (CAD) and modeling software to produce accurate drawings.
- Providing estimates for the design level of effort required for projects.
- Reviewing drawings from other disciplines such as metering, protection and control, and civil engineering.
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
