The Meter Shop and Mesh & Meter Operations (MMO) teams are responsible for managing NB Power's fleet of over 350,000 revenue-grade residential, commercial, and industrial meters, as well as more than 400 mesh network devices. Their work includes ensuring meter accuracy through testing, verifying test consoles, reviewing nonconforming meters, and providing technical support for field operations. In addition, they maintain compliance with Measurement Canada legislative requirements. Operating in a near real-time capacity, MMO plays a foundational role in NB Power's smart grid by overseeing the processes and equipment that enable accurate measurement and reliable system performance.

Electrical Technician key functions include:
• Testing, configuring and assisting in the management of distribution and transmission meters.
• Testing meter test boards, validating accuracy of test equipment, and testing analyzers for field deployment.
• Managing field inspection reports and non-conformances.

Field Electrical Technician key functions include:
• Installing, replacing and troubleshooting 3 phase transformer rated metering sites.
• Analyzer testing of meters, validating Current Transformer (CT) / Potential Transformer (PT) configurations for accurate billing.
• Reading and enforcing metering drawings.

Smart Meters Technician key functions include:
• Testing and validation of meters and network equipment. Deployment of meters and network equipment firmware and configuration.
• Conducting performance management and troubleshooting of meters and network equipment. Submitting Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) and issue tickets with vendor.
• Evaluating and implementation of smart meters use cases and developing technologies.

Our ideal teammate will have:
Diploma in one of the following options:
• Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology
• Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Technician
• A valid class 5 Driver's License
• Certification as a Meter Technician will be considered an asset

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.

An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
