This role is part of the Mobile Food Bank department. The role is a client facing job that will be responsible for providing food deliveries for the Mobile Food Bank.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver food to clients based on scheduled drop-offs and/or food hampers for clients
  • Operate the vehicle safely and reports any vehicle and/or radio maintenance concerns/problems/needs.
  • Report any observed or potential occupational health and safety hazards for workers or clients.
  • Report incidents involving clients immediately.
  • Maintain logbooks for seamless communication to supervisors and/or authorities if required.
  • Ensure the exterior and interior of vehicles are clean, and safe
  • Conduct daily safety checks on vehicle(s) in accordance with guidelines and requirements.
  • Monitor and reports any vehicle inventory supplies that should be replenished outlined in the inspection requirements.
  • Report any maintenance/repairs that may occur during the workday and may be required to take vehicles to scheduled repairs and maintenance appointments.
  • Follow all procedures and documenting any incidents, accidents and/or injuries.
  • Follow all applicable road safety and vehicle operation laws, guidelines and practices.
  • Follow all policies and procedures to maintain a healthy and safe working environment.

What we are looking for:

  • Qualifications include a minimum of 1-2 years of experience and a 1-2-year college diploma or post-secondary certification or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An age limit may be required for specific vehicles.
  • Basic computer skills or knowledge (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driver's abstract.
  • Ability to apply relevant municipal road safety legislation.
  • Ability to route plan and navigate various road options using GPS systems, maps, etc., to ensure timely deliveries and ensuring smooth and safe rides.
  • Ability to identify routine problems, analyze them using established methods while using independent judgement to select solutions from well-defined standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to communicate and influence by clarifying policies, processes, and services effectively.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion, empathy and understanding for individuals with differing cognitive and physical abilities.
  • Requires knowledge of safe transport practices, reporting incidents, equipment transport, etc.
