As part of the Technical Services Department, the Engineer I-IV is responsible for ensuring system reliability. This includes preventing equipment overloads, maintaining healthy voltage levels, and prioritizing high-impact projects through the Capital Growth Program. The Engineer develops and maintains accurate load flow models, performs power flow studies, and evaluates solutions using sound engineering principles. The role also includes supporting Distribution System Operators (DSOs) and collaborating with the GIS team to ensure system models are up to date.
Key functions include:
- Prepare and submit annual job plans under the Capital Growth Program
- Conduct annual reviews of all Distribution Feeders in the respective region
- Complete planning studies in response to Customer Load Requests
Our ideal teammate will have:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related Applied Science
- Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer or Member-in-Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB)
- Experience/knowledge in one or more of the following:
- Building and maintaining distribution systems load flow models (e.g. CYME Power Engineering Software and CYME Distribution Analysis)
- Performing power flow studies to find and solve system issues
- Developing and managing a Capital Growth Program to improve system reliability and meet growing customer demand
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
