Communications Specialist

As part of the Corporate Communications team, the Communications Specialist will lead communications for NB Power's Operations division, with a focus on highlighting initiatives that improve customer reliability.
Key functions include:
• Develop and implement communications strategies that showcase NB Power's work to enhance system reliability and operational performance.
• Create and manage content for internal and external audiences, including updates on projects, operational improvements, and reliability initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal emergency management and response teams to maintain and update communications processes in the event of emergencies.
• Collaborate with field staff, site teams, and across departments to improve internal communications and create engaging messaging ensuring employees are informed, engaged, and equipped to respond to customer needs.
• Coordinate with project teams to ensure communications are aligned with project schedules, milestones, and objectives.
• Act as a trusted advisor to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels.
• Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of communications and adapt strategies as needed.
• Support other communications activities within the Operations and Project Management Office (PMO) portfolio as required.
Our ideal teammate will have:
• A bachelor's degree or College Diploma in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related discipline. (Candidates who possess a college diploma will require an additional two years of related work experience).
• Eight years of relevant experience in a communications role.
• Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex, technical information into clear and engaging content for diverse audiences.
• Experience developing and executing communications plans to support field operations and/or capital projects.
• Sound judgment and the ability to anticipate and manage reputational risk.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Experience supporting internal communications in unionized environments would be considered an asset.
• This role requires on-call availability as needed.
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
