JOB SUMMARY:
The Genomic Surveillance Specialist participates in the development, refinement and proper functioning of genomic tests used in the New Brunswick Public Health Laboratory. They are also involved in the maintenance and future development of the wastewater surveillance program. They work closely with affiliated scientists (PhDs), medical microbiologists and other professionals within the organization and at Public Health. They also manage data related to surveillance programs, including non-clinical programs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree in biochemistry or an equivalent field in biological sciences;
- Minimum two years' experience in sequencing techniques related to genomic surveillance in public health;
- Minimum two years' experience working in a public health laboratory;
- Experience in techniques for monitoring microorganisms in wastewater;
- Minimum experience in bioinformatics considered an asset;
- Ability to use evidence-based data in decision-making;
- Ability to form productive partnerships and recognize the contribution of collaborators;
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize assigned tasks;
- Participatory leadership style that focuses on clients and outcomes and inspires commitment, respect, compassion and equity;

- Good knowledge of commonly used bioinformatics tools;
