GRANTS FACILITATION OFFICER (BAND LEVEL 8)

Research & Graduate Studies
Faculty of Medicine

(Full-Time, 2- Year Contractual Position)

DUTIES

This position provides direct support to the Vice Dean (Research & Graduate Studies), Assistant Dean (Clinical Research) and the RGS Research Manager. The successful candidate will have administrative responsibilities associated with either: the Division of BioMedical Sciences (BMS), or the Division of Population Health & Applied Health Sciences (PHAHS) and clinical research activities within the Faculty of Medicine. Duties include performing review of grant applications for compliance to both funding agency and MUN policies and procedures; providing support and working with Faculty of Medicine faculty members (either specifically BMS or PHAHS and clinical faculty) to write grant applications; sourcing funding initiatives and opportunities from national, provincial and other funding agencies; formulating and organizing applications to take advantage of opportunities; working with students to provide advice on external grant application content and approval when required; communicating deadlines to faculty; attending research meetings; assisting with the preparation of award nominations; assisting with developing workshops for faculty members; facilitating networking opportunities with other researchers; coordinating with the Office of Research Initiatives & Services (RIS); and performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (3-5 years preparing and reviewing grant applications and project proposals, or managing research projects; graduation with a Master's degree; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Direct research experience would be an asset. The ideal candidate must be proactive, detail-oriented, have strong organizational skills and will have a background in research (preference for health specific research). Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently are essential. Knowledge of funding programs directed toward university-based research, and the ability to multi-task is required.

SALARY $64,361 – $87,763 per annum (Management and Professional)
