The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Lead, Construction Area to join our Projects team in Sudbury. This is a permanent position.
The Lead, Construction Area will lead and manage surface construction projects and employees and will participate as a member of the Integrated Owners project team.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Participate in and contribute to the development of a Construction Execution Plan and schedule for the area and total site
- Conduct detailed constructability reviews of engineering drawings and specifications during project design phase
- Lead a team to monitor and control the safe completion of work in accordance with contract scopes, timelines, budget, and in accordance with the project drawings and specifications
- Review preservation plans for construction related equipment and materials required
- Monitor implementation of contractor QC programs and assist with the implementation of the Owner's team QA programs at site
- Monitor changes in scope of work and represent owner in the scope change authorization process
- Plan integration between construction completion activities and commissioning activities
About You
Education:
- Undergraduate degree or College Diploma
- Trades journeyperson certification preferred
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in construction projects
- Extensive background in construction execution management or supervision
- Specific experience in construction and heavy industrial
- Experience with budget tracking and working within departmental schedules and budgets
Skills:
- Strong communication and decision making skills
- Comfortable working with computers, specifically Microsoft applications
- Solid knowledge and appreciation for Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures
- Ability to evaluate the workforce, direct and mentor staff and contractors where necessary
- Ability to coordinate training requirements for employees and contractors
