Who we are:
We invite you to join the Mount Carleton Provincial Park Team! Mount Carleton is one of the largest natural sites in New Brunswick, located in the north-west of New Brunswick.
A picturesque blend of Acadian forests and mountain peaks, Mount Carleton contains over 17, 000 hectares of wilderness waiting for today's explorers.
A provincial park since 1970, containing the highest peak in the Maritimes, a part of the Appalachian Mountains, including hiking trails, camping, fishing, and a designated Dark Sky Preserve are all part of what awaits you.
What you will do:
Reporting to the Park manager of Mount Carleton provincial park, the successful candidate will be responsible to oversee the security and maintenance of grounds, trails, buildings, and vehicle maintenance.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Supporting a diverse maintenance team
- Assuming supervisory responsibilities, including recruitment, training, task assignment, scheduling and performance management
- Assisting maintenance team members in completing tasks
- Ensuring the smooth running of grounds, trails and building maintenance work
- Introducing and enforcing health and safety regulations
- Obtaining quotes for materials and services
- Managing material resources to ensure optimization and controlling parts and supplies inventories in accordance with financial procedures and approved budgets
- Monitoring tool and equipment inventories to ensure availability for on-site maintenance tasks
- Performing other duties as required
Who you are:
You are someone who is physically fit for tasks like landscaping and trash removal, with the technical skills to operate and maintain equipment and knowledge of safety regulations. You are detail-oriented, able to prioritize tasks, and work in various weather conditions. You have strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and time management skills, along with reliability and the ability to work independently or in a team. Most importantly, you take pride in maintaining the park's safety and appearance as a representative of Parks NB.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Required Competencies:
- Graduation from high school or GED
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel)
- Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.
Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration. Please ensure that preferred language for assessment is identified on your resume.
Nice to have:
- Valid and up to date First Aid/CPR certification
- Effective Interactive Communication training
- Other related certifications

Wage:
$30.14 per hour
Work environment:
- Working up to 40 hours per week
- Please note that this position requires variable and extended hours - shifts may include evenings, weekends and holidays
