The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Senior Manager, Product to join our Commercial solutions team in Toronto.
As the Senior Manager, Product, you will lead the global product marketing strategy for nickel, cobalt, and PGMs. Your role includes developing pricing policies, creating long-term budgets, and providing technical leadership. You will adapt VBM's product mix to maintain market leadership, collaborate with various teams to optimize the product portfolio, and work with the Market Manager and Commercial Sales Managers to identify and prioritize potential customers, aligning products with Vale's commercial strategy.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Define and refine product marketing strategy, tactics, goals, and metrics for Ni, Co, and PGMs by coordinating with RMUs, Market Analysis, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate periodic product strategy workshops with cross-functional teams including RMUs, refineries, strategic planning, and R&D.
- Interface with senior management and VBM stakeholders to align with overall business context and strategy.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of key markets, applications, customers, and competitors by working closely with RMUs, Market Analysis, Sales Managers, and customers.
- Collaborate with operations, R&D, and finance to understand products, manufacturing processes, and operating costs.
- Develop an understanding of the value-in-use of products compared to competitors and substitution alternatives.
- Gather market intelligence continuously and feed it into the pricing analysis process.
- Monitor competitive threats and issue timely reports to RMUs and senior management.
- Respond to technical issues and inquiries from Ni, Co, and PGM customers promptly and professionally.
- Support incremental product improvements and technical service requests by working closely with R&D.
About You
Education:
- Master's Degree
- P.Eng
Experience:
- 11-15 years of experience in Product Management, or a similar role

- Strong leadership qualities to inspire and guide teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.

- Experience in operations is highly valued for understanding and optimizing operational processes.
- Subject matter expert in VBM's products, designs, applications, and customer processes.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions with attention to detail.
- Adept at identifying problems, analyzing root causes, and developing effective solutions.
- Strong team player, able to work effectively with colleagues across different departments.
- Solid understanding of marketing, sales, and finance fundamentals to drive business strategies.
- Creativity and innovative thinking to explore unconventional ideas and foster a culture of innovation.
