MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST II (BAND LEVEL 5)

(Part-Time, One Year Contractual Position)

The Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) is a national study of adult development and aging that will recruit 50,000 individuals across Canada. Information will be collected from participants through telephone interviews, in person interviews, and physical assessments.

DUTIES

Reporting to the CLSA Coordinator, the successful applicant will support the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging. Duties include collecting and labelling biospecimens; processing biospecimen's; disposing of all waste generated through daily activity (including biological and reagent waste); operating and maintaining equipment; shipping biospecimen aliquots and samples; controlling reagent and inventory; entering data and keeping records; complying with quality standards according to standard operating procedures; performing other related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience (1-3 years) working in a laboratory collecting, processing, and evaluating the adequacy of biospecimen's; completion of an undergraduate degree in health sciences or related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Phlebotomy training, experience with pipetting, and knowledge of accreditation requirements and/or Good Laboratory Practice is required. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently as well as part of a team are also required. Experience with Laboratory information Management Systems is an asset.

SALARY $53,729 – 63,029 per annum (Non Bargaining)
