The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Lead, Construction Area to join our Copper Cliff Mine Complex team in Sudbury.

This is a permanent position, working a Monday to Friday, Dayshift.

As a Lead, Construction you will lead a team of mine development and construction professionals to successfully execute the projects under the Projects group and will participate as a member of the Owners team.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Oversee surface and underground construction processes, ensuring efficient execution and accountability for employees and project areas.
  • Implement and promote Vale's SHE Policies, monitor contractor compliance, assist with safety audits, and ensure adherence to environmental standards.
  • Develop execution plans, constructability reviews, logistics coordination, and integration between construction and commissioning activities.
  • Support bidder selection, contract management, work scope monitoring, progress verification, and dispute resolution.
  • Monitor contractor QC programs, review quality plans, oversee inspections, manage punch lists, and approve incident reports.
  • Support pre-commissioning, ensure installations meet contract standards, manage facility turnovers, and verify as-built documentation.

About You

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree or College Diploma
  • Trades journeyperson certification preferred

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience construction projects
  • Extensive background in construction execution management or supervision
  • Specific experience in construction and heavy industrial experience
  • Experience with budget tracking and working within departmental schedules and budgets

Skills:

  • Previous involvement in Major Capital Construction projects within Vale, with extensive experience in construction execution management and heavy industrial projects, including five years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong computer expertise, proficiency in Microsoft Applications, and a solid understanding of budget tracking, departmental schedules, and financial management.
  • Deep knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental policies to ensure compliance and safe operations within the area of responsibility.
  • Skilled in evaluating the workforce, mentoring supervisory staff, and coordinating training requirements for employees and contractors.
