The salary scale for NSCC Faculty is based on twelve steps that range from $47.55 - $65.63 per hour. New Faculty may receive up to a maximum of five steps for relevant occupational experience and may receive up to an additional four steps for full-time equivalent years of instructional experience (instructional experience is defined as teaching post-secondary). The maximum a new Faculty can expect to receive is nine steps or $61.20 per hour.

Responsibilities

The Applied Research, Innovation and Workforce Development team at NSCC is expanding its casual pool of qualified instructors to support upcoming solar photovoltaic (PV) training initiatives. These offerings will support both contract training with industry partners and continuing education public offerings, scheduled for Fall and Winter 2026.

This opportunity falls within the School of Technology and Environment and aims to deliver both microcredentials and short courses in the growing field of solar photovoltaic systems.

We are currently seeking faculty with specific industry knowledge in solar energy systems to support course delivery. Materials are on hand that have been designed and developed and validated by industry.

This posting is for upcoming contract training and continuing education offerings in the following areas:

  • Microcredentials in Solar PV System Installation, Design, Troubleshooting, and Maintenance
  • Training aligned to Red Seal electricians with experience in electrical interconnection
  • Foundational solar PV safety, code, permitting, inspection, and utility interconnection practices

What You'll Be Doing

As a member of the Workforce Development instructional team, you may:

  • Deliver engaging and applied instruction using modern learning strategies and technologies
  • Work closely with instructional designers and curriculum consultants to align materials with NSCC's academic standards
  • Instruct a diverse range of adult learners in flexible formats including in-person, online, or blended delivery
  • Contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment that reflects NSCC values
  • Support students through effective feedback, evaluation, and learner-centered instructional practices
  • Promote and follow health and safety best practices within training environments
Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience

  • A university or college degree relevant to renewable energy, solar technology, electrical systems, or related fields
  • At least 5 years of occupational experience in solar PV systems, renewable energy, or related trades (e.g., electrician with PV experience or electrical engineer)
  • Experience teaching or training adult learners in formal or informal settings
  • Demonstrated experience working in teams to develop or adapt instructional content
  • Comfort working in digital learning environments and using platforms like Brightspace, MS Teams, and SharePoint
  • Experience with customized training for industry clients is considered a strong asset
  • Familiarity with applicable electrical codes and safety regulations related to solar PV is considered an asset
