As a Trust Accountant you will manage the maintenance, reconciliation, accuracy and balancing of all daily functions within the Trust department. This role involves liaising with other departments within 1832 Asset Management L.P. including Portfolio Administration, Fund Accounting, Client Administration and Corporate Accounting.

This is a 12 Month term position.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Prepare net cash movements for all the funds based on transaction data
  • Reconcile the daily transactions processed by client administration
  • Prepare G/L entries on a daily/weekly basis for any accounts assigned
  • Balance the daily transactions for all the funds
  • Run daily macros to facilitate posting the daily journal entries prepared by members of the trust accounting team to the database from which the trial balance is obtained QC report from the macros to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Compare the summary created within a daily macro to the journal entries prepared by the members of the trust accounting team to ensure accuracy and completeness of the data that will be uploaded to the database
  • Prepare daily bank reconciliations and update the outstanding cheque lists
  • Reconcile and remit government accounts for withholding tax
  • Prepare invoices or payments for commission and trailer fees
  • Analyze various G/L accounts and follow up on outstanding items to ensure timely clearing of items
  • Facilitate manual payments to clients, custodians & FundSERV
  • Update issued manual payments and cancelled cheques into unitholder systems (IFAST, ECS & BNS) as required
  • Ensure the accuracy of daily deposits
  • Facilitate the daily reconciliation of Loss/NSF fees which are allocated to funds
  • Participate in special projects and other administrative duties as required

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • College diploma or bachelor's degree
  • CPA enrolment an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Office (i.e., excel & word) required
  • Experience working within a team environment
  • Experience in the mutual funds industry is an asset
  • Experience working with iFAST is an asset
  • Proven attention to detail with a desire for accuracy
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management & organizational skills
