Purpose


Contributes to the overall success of the Finance & Planning unit, Retail and Business Service Centres in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Provides support to the Finance and Planning Senior Manager and business unit leaders in the preparation and analysis of expense reporting, budget forecasts and planning, business line allocations, and project assignments. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.


Accountabilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen business line relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Provides assistance in the planning, forecasting, and control of operational expenses for the Retail and Business Service Centre transits (RSC / BSC) with responsibility for the accuracy of the financial information for actual/plan/forecast with reasonability and checks.
  • Provides assistance to the processing, planning, analysis of Staffing for Retail and Business Service Centre complement, workload, agency, and consultant staffing.
  • Provides assistance to the delivery of accurate and timely analysis of monthly variance reporting by communicating with individuals in the various business units and Global Operations Finance.
  • Provides assistance to the data capture of actuals from the business units, consolidating reporting to complete periodic and ad-hoc reporting of performance.
  • Supports the efforts of streamlining and building financial models, automate reporting processes and develop process controls.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Supports and assists in implementing effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Skills and Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Specific functional or product knowledge: AS400, Microsoft Office 365, EGL, OBI, Hyperion, Smartview, bank applications, general ledgers
  • A good understanding of financial and management reporting principles; ability to sustain a broad-based knowledge of the Bank's and Global Operations' strategy, operations and procedures
  • Strong analytical, problems-solving and organizational skills
  • A familiarity with and propensity for systems and spreadsheets such as Excel's pivot tables and macros
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Streamline processes for efficient workflows between business lines
