Purpose

The Senior Manager, Product Communication & Experience is responsible for developing and implementing mutual fund and investment communications, tools, training, and other content-rich support to grow and retain proprietary fund market share and enhance the overall advisor and client experience. The scope of the role spans Canadian retail banking, Scotia Financial Planning, Independent Dealer, and Wealth Management channels and extends to multiple brands, wholesaling, advisor, and client audiences.

The position requires a strong understanding of mutual fund, ETF, and managed assets product mechanics, investing principles, and innovation trends in asset management. Thorough knowledge of investment fund products and the Canadian regulatory framework (NI 81-102), strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to tailor content to meet the needs of multiple distribution channels, and experience managing complex projects and processes is required. The role also requires demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment to develop compelling communications and launching comprehensive product support aligned with key project milestones.


What you will be doing:

Product Communication: Develop persuasive product communication and support for advisor and client audiences, leveraging strong product knowledge, deep understanding of priority channels, and excellent creative and copywriting skills.

  • Develop effective communications to build, enhance, and sustain advisors' knowledge and confidence with mutual fund and investing conversations.
  • Craft and/or edit compelling and contextual original content for use in various marketing and communications activities, sales enablement campaigns, advisor onboarding and training, and digital tools.
  • Lead the development, production, and distribution of accurate and timely communications for assigned products, including FAQs, advisor resources, presentations, portfolio manager calls/webinars, commentaries, regulatory communications, fact sheets, fund profiles, videos, and investor communications.
  • Lead communication activities for fund launches, mergers, changes, and ongoing maintenance of recurring product communications, working closely with Portfolio Managers, Compliance, Operations, Marketing, internal business teams, and external vendors.


Product Experience: Cultivate the growth of compelling product and investment-focused communications, resources, tools, and experiences for advisor, internal, and client audiences.

  • Leverage market insights, digital trends, and competitive analysis to drive the development of product and investment support for multiple brands and channels.
  • Act as a mutual fund/product subject matter expert for National Sales, Learning & Performance, Advice & Service Excellence, Marketing, and other functional groups.
  • Conduct, oversee, and/or support appropriate business line testing to ensure business requirements are fulfilled for product and investment-focused digital initiatives.
  • Lead and/or support research initiatives for the Scotia Global Asset Management Product team, including the annual investor sentiment survey.
  • Establish close working relationships with key distribution channels, actively soliciting feedback on existing and new support. Respond to all inquiries and requests for product support, balancing the complexity of the ask with the value delivered.
  • Partner with various Marketing functions to ensure business needs, brand, presentation, and accessibility standards are met.
  • Ensure all tactics are developed, delivered, and maintained in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.


Do you have the skills to enable you to be successful in this role? We would love to work with you if you have:

  • University degree.
  • CIM and/or CFA Designation an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within the asset management industry, with demonstrated experience in the following functions:
    - Product/Investment Communication
    - Digital content
    - Product Marketing
    - Mutual fund sales and/or investment advice
  • Ability to influence a broad array of internal and external relationships.
  • Experience working with relevant industry software (Bloomberg, Morningstar) and content management systems an asset.
