The Department of Social Development is seeking an individual to join the Senior and Community Services Unit as a Provincial Program Consultant responsible for the Long Term Care continuum of services in its Central Office in Fredericton. Remote work may be considered.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the development, implementation and interpretation of provincial program standards, policies, guidelines and provincial monitoring in relation to services for seniors across the long term care continuum of care. The Consultant will be responsible for program development, review, implementation and monitoring. The Consultant will lead numerous projects and initiatives within the Branch, provide training and presentations to zone staff and provincial groups and represent the Branch on internal and external committees. The Consultant will provide consultative services to zone offices in the delivery of services options as well as advice to senior management based on current and projected trends and provincial impact. The Consultant may be responsible to assist with other programs within the Branch. The Consultant is expected to maintain an awareness of service developments in the province, in other jurisdictions and in professional literature. This position involves establishing effective working relationships with persons both within and outside the Department. The ability to work effectively on an independent basis and within groups is essential. The Consultant must have strong oral and written communication skills, analytical and planning skills as well as the capacity to cope with short time deadlines. The Consultant will be expected to collect and analyse data specific to program areas. Other duties may be assigned as required.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Social Work with at least three (3) years of experience in the approval and/or monitoring of senior's services OR a Bachelor's degree in Social Work with at least five (5) years of experience in the approval and/or monitoring of senior's services.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate experience in one or more of the following asset qualifications:
• Experience with services to seniors
• Experience with the Long Term Care program
• Experience with NB Families
• Experience with Microsoft Excel
• Experience in project work
Subject to the response of this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate one or more of the asset qualifications on their application in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.
In order to be appointed, candidates must be actively registered with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Travel throughout the province may be required and candidates must possess a valid driver's license.
