The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Projects and Shutdowns to join our Garson Mine team in Sudbury, Ontario.

This is a permanent position, working on a steady dayshifts Monday – Friday.

In this role, you will oversee the management of external resources for plant projects and maintenance/operations work, ensuring seamless integration, efficient execution, and compliance with safety and quality standards. You will work closely with various stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality.

Additionally, you will:

  • Execute and coordinate capital projects, including commissioning, operational readiness, and service giving, ensuring successful project handover and minimal disruptions
  • Provide operational support and non-direct supervision of contractors, ensuring alignment with mine operations and adherence to safety protocols
  • Develop scopes of work for plant-specific non-continuous contract requirements and support requisition management, technical evaluations, and commercial assessments
  • Coordinate contractor activities, material logistics, and access approvals, including Lenel and gate access, to ensure smooth project execution
  • Monitor contractor work quality, safety, compliance, and efficiency, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions
  • Review, validate, and approve contractor time sheets and invoices, ensuring accurate payment and contract compliance
  • Perform contractor audits for quality, qualifications, compliance, and invoice accuracy, providing insights for contract management and improvement
  • Support contract management, project controls, and engineering teams, providing business value insights and ensuring successful project execution within budget and contractual obligations

About You

Education:

  • Bacherlors' Degree or techincal diploma in engineering, technical, trades or mine development/production or related discipline is required.
  • PMP Designation is an asset.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or ticketed tradesperson Registration is preferred.
  • Common Core: First Line Underground Mine Supervisor Common Core (770121) or Common Core for First Line Production Supervisor Underground Hard Rock Mining (770120) is preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of related leadership experience is required.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years' experience in project management or mining development related role is required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of VPS Technical, project management principles and strategies and strong project management skills is preferred.
  • Proficiency in SAP andd Microsoft Office Products is required

Skills:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
  • Must demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
