We are looking for a Large Vessel Manager to join our team in St. George, NB. As the Large Vessel Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the overall management and operational performance of our large vessel fleet. This includes tasks like ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations, as well as managing the vessel's budget, maintenance, and crew. They may also be involved in coordinating with other departments, such as operations, technical, and procurement, to achieve project goals and ensure the vessel's profitability.

Responsibilities:

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensuring the vessel operates in a safe manner and complies with all relevant regulations and standards

Operational Management:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the vessel, including scheduling, staffing, and maintenance.
  • Attend operational planning meetings

Budget Management:

  • Overseeing the vessel's budget and ensuring it stays within allocated costs

Crew Management:

  • Managing the vessel's crew, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations
  • Participate in conflict resolution and discipline within the department
  • Assist with crewing of vessels to safe manning and competency standards

Coordination:

  • Collaborating with other departments, such as operations, technical, and procurement, to achieve project goals

Compliance:

  • Ensuring compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and other legal requirements

Reporting:

  • Providing regular reports on the vessel's performance, including financial, operational, and safety metrics

Procurement:

  • Managing the procurement of spare parts, stores, and supplies for the vessel and warehouse

Emergency Response:

  • Assisting or leading emergency response teams (ERT) when necessary

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating vessel arrivals and departures
  • Optimizing port stay durations
  • Implementing cost-saving strategies
  • Plans for weather conditions
  • Maximizes berth productivity
  • Coordinates bunkering
  • Weekly report to share results, success, and challenges of the week
  • Oversee the vessel warehouse and warehouse staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of proven experience in vessel or fleet management within a marine or maritime environment
  • Strong understanding of marine regulations, safety protocols, and compliance standards
  • Budget management and cost control experience
  • Effective leadership and crew management skills
