The Senior Manager – Climate Risk Oversight will be part of the ESG Risk team in Global Risk Management, reporting to the Director – ESG Risk Policy. The Senior Manager will work with the Director and the team to ensure that the Bank's exposure to climate risk is consistent with its risk appetite. This will be achieved by taking responsibility for the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of the climate risk frameworks encompassing risk oversight & challenge, execution, communication, engagement and education. The Senior Manager is expected to be knowledgeable on climate change risk methodologies and standards insofar as they are relevant for the financial services industry. They will also be expected to be familiar with regulatory expectations including disclosure requirements and developing industry standards.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for team members on topics related to climate data needs and reporting for climate risk metrics.
- Develop and maintain the Bank's climate risk management program following regulatory requirements and connect outputs to the Bank's climate transition plan. This includes but is not limited to the development of frameworks and methodologies to identify, assess and measure the impacts of climate change risk across the bank's exposures.
- Maintain and expand the climate risk due diligence program within credit and connect outputs to the Bank's climate transition plan and enterprise stress testing program.
- Integrate the impacts of climate change risk into the risk management processes of other risk types.
- Expand 2nd line climate risk oversight across all business lines and corporate functions, as required.
- Enhance the governance, monitoring, and internal reporting of climate risk within Enterprise Risk (e.g., Climate Risk Dashboard).
- Inform executives on new and pending climate risk issues, regulations, and legislation.
- Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
- Has an undergraduate and/or graduate degree.
- At least 5 years of relevant climate change/net zero experience.
- Experience in a risk or audit role at a financial institution would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of climate change risks and their potential impact on financial institutions.
- Familiarity with climate risk management and reporting regulations, standards, and guidelines for the financial sector.
- Strong communication and relationship skills with a proven track record of engaging and presenting to stakeholders.
- Spanish language fluency would be considered an asset.
