JOB SUMMARY:

The incumbent will coordinate an interdisciplinary team and provide a full range of services as a nurse to a clientele of adults with serious mental illness, using the Flexible Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) service delivery model, with a focus on recovery. They will be responsible for teaching about medication, promoting healthy lifestyle habits, keeping up to date with new treatments/medications according to best practices and informing staff members. They will also be involved in medical assessments, in collaboration with the psychiatrist, and ensure that the Clozaril injection and monitoring clinics run smoothly. They will provide clinical leadership, supervision and coordination for the clinical services offered by the interdisciplinary team. They will be responsible for assigning clinical cases within the department and ensuring that professionals comply with professional practice standards as well as applicable policies and procedures. They will work closely with the program manager to ensure that the department runs smoothly. They will also carry a clinical case load and will need to ensure that the client and their natural support network are involved in the development of intervention plans. The position's duties also include tasks such as assessment, treatment, building helping relationships, crisis intervention, case management, rehabilitation, and prevention.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of science in nursing;
  • Member in good standing of the Nurses Association of New Brunswick;
  • At least five years' clinical experience in the mental health field;
  • ASIST training or completion of this training by established deadline;
  • Ability to use computer tools;
  • Demonstrate sensitivity, empathy and respect;
  • Adaptability and flexibility;
  • Effective communication;
  • Creativity and innovation;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Leadership and good decision-making skills;
  • Good organizational skills and ability to set priorities;
  • Sound clinical judgment and good analytical reasoning;
