DUTIES
Reporting to the Director, Pension Services, the Manager, Pension Administration will be responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of the pension administration team, ensuring excellent membership experience. Duties include ensuring accuracy and completeness of pension calculations; developing and monitoring systems of internal controls for related areas; ensuring system data is accurate and complete; providing oversight for regulatory compliance processes; recommending, implementing, and documenting pension plan policies and procedures; identifying gaps in governance and communications strategies and recommending corrective action to the Director; leading market review processes for the selection of the plan actuary and pension administration systems, as required; ensuring annual extrapolations and periodic actuarial valuations of the pension plan are completed; preparing the pension plan's annual report and activity plans; maintaining the pensions website; designing and delivering retirement seminars and education sessions; preparing and distributing member communications, as well as policy and procedure manuals; providing recommendations on plan design and amendments, as required; and performing other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (5-8 years) managing large defined benefit pension administrative functions; completion of a master's degree in business administration or a related area is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The ideal candidate will have proven management skills and a strong client service focus. Accuracy and attention to detail, as well as proven analytical and problem-solving skills, are essential. The successful applicant will possess strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver process documentation. A Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation will be an asset.
