As a member of the Governance and Public Accountability team, the Governance and Public Accountability Specialist leads, plans and executes corporate governance activities, develops governance processes to support effective Board governance and Shareholder relations and leads all public accountability reporting for NB Power. As such, the Governance and Public Accountability Specialist is responsible for applying a long-term view to ensure reports and information are prepared consistent with past reports and in consideration of future reporting requirements.

Key functions include:

  • Lead and prepare materials in various formats and/or across various platforms to demonstrate NB Power's public accountability
  • Lead and prepare all key external corporate reporting to facilitate Board decisions and strong Shareholder relations, including Board material and briefings, government briefings, recommendations and fact sheets
  • Research, develop and implement effective Board governance and Shareholder relations practices
  • Guide and prepare material to support strategic Board and corporate initiatives, key topics of NB Power business, Board and Ministerial briefing notes, recommendations and fact sheets
  • Manage and prepare President's Office correspondence and the responses to information requests from the government

Our ideal teammate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Law, Business, or Arts
  • Intermediate Proficiency in Office 365 with advanced Proficiency in Word and PowerPoint
  • Having or working towards the Governance Professionals of Canada (GPC.D) or a related designation would be considered an asset
  • Five years of relevant experience in corporate governance and public accountability reporting such as:
    • contributing to the preparation, review and editing of content for reporting to a Board of Directors and/or the Shareholder and/or external stakeholders
    • developing and preparing external reports and materials, including annual reports, quarterly reports, financial filings and other regulated or legislated filings, managing and responding to information requests
    • working with or leading an editorial and design team to produce final reports that meet established reporting requirements and are delivered in adherence with communications style guides
    • working with a Board of Directors or a Shareholder, including implementing effective governance practices, directing and preparing effective Board material and maintaining complete Board records
    • preparing Ministerial briefing notes, briefings, recommendations and fact sheets

  • Strong written, oral and listening communications skills

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.

An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
