The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Geology and or Geological Engineering Co-Op Student to join our Brownfield Exploration team in Thompson, Manitoba.
This is a fixed-term onsite position, working a Monday to Friday Schedule. This is a 4-12 month-fixed term co-op position starting in September, 2025.
As a Geology Co-Op student, you will provide geological service primarily focused on core logging, underground geological support, or exploration drilling activities. The successful candidate may have the opportunity to go underground for mapping and grade control practices, mine ability and dilution services, or visit exploration drills.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Assist in the planning and implementation of exploration projects, including area selection, target generation, prospecting, mapping, drilling, logging, sampling, and evaluation.
- Complete geological logging and/or geotechnical description of diamond drill core.
- Gather and analyze geoscience data during office studies and field surveys.
- Aid senior personnel in executing technical tasks in line with prescribed geoscience methods on exploration projects.
- Complete 2D and 3D modelling, integrating geological, geophysical and geochemical data.
About You
Education:
- Currently enrolled and in good standing in a Geology / Geological Engineering Co-op program
- Please include university transcript(s) in the application
Experience:
- Previous work experience in an industrial setting would be an asset
Skills:
- Demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 products (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook), with a basic to intermediate understanding of Datamine Studio 3 and Deswik or other mine planning software preferred.
- Strong verbal, written, and analytical communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Utilize good geological practices while minimizing costs, and complete assigned projects safely and on time.
